Ancients Fest 2008

17th May 2008 saw the annual reoccurrence of the Portbury Knights Ancients Fest.  On the day 13 Warmaster Ancients players attended and 4 Warhammer ancients players.  These numbers included 5 hardy souls (Non Knights) who made a special journey on the day just to play. - Thank you!

8 tables were set out with terrain as varied as Egyptian desert, Italian Alps and at least 3 tables with rivers!  There were some great match ups!  Normans Vs Romans, Egyptians Vs Indians, Greeks and Spartans, Sarmatians Vs more Romans.  For a full list see below.  The atmosphere remains great all day long.  The bar was briskly raided during the lunch break and battles recommenced.  Throughout the day there was a greatly atmosphere, no arguments and only a couple of minor rules queries.  The players were a credit to the game systems and hobby!

Winner on the day and according to all who played him a great opponent was Jim Brown with his Arab conquest army. (Pictures below).  Best painted army went to Martin Gossage' Macedonian 10mm.  Well done to both.

Once again thanks to all who attended and made this such a successful event.
