Blitzkrieg Commander

Blitzkrieg Commander is a set of fast play World War Two rules based upon the Warmaster principles. It is also available as a modern warfare set called Cold War Commander.

As a set of rules the key is the command and control mechanism, driven from Platoon right to Divisional command level if you wish! This will be very familiar to Warmaster players and, in modified form, the popular P

BI and Peter Pig’s Civil War Battles, even.

A typical set up would be for several battalions being commanded to brigade or regiment level, depending on which army you are using. In this way games can be small scale operations up to huge divisional level battles across a large play area. Games are easily completed in an evenings play. Scale wise this is your choice; players have used 2mm and upwards! At Portbury Knights the current campaigns are using 20/25mm standard plastics.

The rules themselves come in one book, including available army listings from Finnish Forces of 1939 to Greek Army and so on! Some additional rule options are available from the Blitzkrieg Commander website www.blitzkriegcommander.com, which also has a forum regularly attended by the rule author, Peter Andrew Jones, answering any queries.

The pictures on our site so far are from a series of linked scenarios from Normandy 1944. The scenarios played out by Stefan, Ryan and James so far have included D-Day itself, The British Airborne at Pegasus Bridge, 82nd  and 101st US in the Cotetin, Carantan and so on and several actions between British 21st Army Group and the Waffen SS around Caen, where attrition has worn down the available German forces. The latest pictures depict the final push into Caen.

At the same time the apocalyptic Russian Offensive of 1944, Operation Bagration, is also being run as a series of games.

We would be delighted to introduce any players to this exciting set of rules.
